What the common questions you might have before hiring a Pinterest Manager are
Let’s get into it!
What is a Pinterest Manager?
A Pinterest Manager is an online service-provider who manages and grows your presence on Pinterest’s platform.
This includes creating Pins, performing keyword research, optimizing your profile, writing SEO-optimized pin titles and descriptions, and pinning multiple times per day.
The best Pinterest Managers have their finger on your analytics and overall Pinterest trends. Because it takes time for pins to gain momentum, monthly or quarterly analytics reports make the most sense.
How to Know If You’re Ready to Hire a Pinterest Manager
The 6 main signs Pinterest Marketing might be a good fit for you are if you’re:
💻 An online business owner, either in the service-provider, creative, coach/educator, or e-commerce spaces.
🔍Looking for an additional marketing funnel that attracts warm leads into your world.
😴Tired of the fast-moving pace and short lifespan your social media content gets.
📝Creating consistent blog content or intend to build up a backlog of blog content.
🌳Aware that Pinterest is a slow-growth platform and takes 6-9 months to see conversions and results.
🧲Desire an evergreen, discovery platform that attracts and nurtures leads without you having to seek them out.
No matter the type of online business you have, you neeeeeeeed to have your own website.
Pinterest operates on creators posting original content to the platform. As part of the profile optimization process, they do a domain verification.
This helps ensure spammers aren’t taking over AND ensures the original creators get the analytics attributed to their account.
What Your (Future) Pinterest Manager Needs from You so You Can Both Be Successful
Blog Content
Your dream client goes on Pinterest to learn or be inspired.
So, to be successful on Pinterest, you need a backlog of blog content published on your website.
If you don’t already have blog content on your website, a good place to start is with 5-7 blog posts.
This gives your Pinterest Manager enough unique URLs to pin multiple times a day and increase your reach on the platform.
Creative Freedom
I’m going to hold your hand when I say this... The highest-performing content on Pinterest is often the ugliest and least-branded.
I know, I know. It doesn’t make sense. Pinterest is a visual platform!
But those visuals are where the best Pinterest Managers hack the algorithm.
As a visual search platform, there are certain colors and layouts that just do best. It’s in your best interest to feed the algorithm what it deems “popular” amongst users.
An awesome Pinterest Manager is going to do everything in her power to make sure your content gets seen and pushed out on the platform. And sometimes that means the pins she designs for you won’t match your brand’s color palette (so don’t freak out!).
Time
Pinterest Marketing is one of the slower-growing funnels out there. But don’t mistake its lack of speed for a lack of strength. The Pinterest algorithm is POWERFUL and grows with time.
To be successful, you need to trust the pinning strategy your Pinterest Manager put in place for your account.
It typically takes 6-9 months of active pinning to see the strongest conversions. Of course, there are slightly different timelines for account growth depending on if your account is brand new or already established.
And other factors regarding your industry, your competition, how much blog content you have, and the rest of your marketing funnel all play a role in how fast your account grows.
(I have some clients who’ve seen incredible conversions after 4 months, so it’s possible!).
The ultimate nice-to-have
Email marketing!
At the most basic level, these means having an email service provider set-up, including an opt-in form for people to sign-up, and a weekly or bi-weekly newsletter that you send out consistently.
If you like to do things above and beyond, having one or more lead magnets is incredibly helpful to nurture your ideal client.
And if you’re an A++ student, you’ll have automated email sequences or funnels for the people who find you on Pinterest to be able to spend more time with you and see that you’re the right person for them.
4 Questions You Might Have Before You Hire a Pinterest Manager
1. How long does it take to see results with Pinterest Marketing?
It typically takes 6-9 months of actively and strategically pinning to see true conversions.
In my world, true conversions = outbound clicks to your website pages. (Your blog posts, your lead magnets, your portfolio pages, your services page, etc.).
For most of the clients I work with, they have a comfortable amount of content to support 3-5 daily pins. While you could pin more, I don’t find it necessary. It doesn’t add to the analytics I’m working towards (outbound website clicks!).
It IS possible to see results sooner than 6 months, but that’s entirely dependent on the industry you’re in, the competition, and some viral luck from the Pinterest algorithm.
2. What’s content or industries do best on Pinterest? Is it for me?
Pinterest is a search engine. If your business helps solve a problem, you can be successful with Pinterest Marketing.
The best content on Pinterest are pins that clearly solve a problem and back-up on the promise their pin designs and pin descriptions provide.
The best industry for Pinterest tends to be online businesses.
You can be localized or in-person, but this typically works best for the wedding/event planning, and photography industries.
3. How much time or input is required from me if I hire a Pinterest Manager?
The way I do it, very minimally!
Most of what I require from you is in the front-end. I need to know what your goals are, who your target audience is, and gain access to your marketing assets.
After our initial onboarding, I’ll send you a batch of fresh pins every month. You get one week to review and request edits. Once edits are implemented, I schedule your pins for daily posting.
Monthly analytics calls are delivered via a video recording, or we can have a live call. It’s always your choice.
4. Isn’t this something I could do myself?
Technically, yes. It’s like most things in the online entrepreneurial space.
But do you really want to learn the ins and outs of another marketing stream?
Wouldn’t you rather be working on the tasks that excite you instead of stressing about scheduling pins againnnn and ghosting Pinterest Marketing for the third week in a row?
If I were in your shoes, I would get started on your Pinterest Marketing today. Because the option of doing it yesterday (or a year ago) are long gone.
I can’t let you have another year to go by before the same thought of, “Ugh. If only I started Pinterest Marketing earlier. Then I wouldn’t have to stress so much about new clients coming in.” pops into your head.
Pinterest is a slow-growth platform. The sooner you start, the sooner your flowers will bloom.
And on Pinterest, they bloom reeeeeal nice.
